The first ever International Women's Day

Did you know...

1869 British MP John Stuart Mill was the first person in Parliament to call for women's right to vote.

On 19 September 1893 New Zealand became the first country ever to give women the right to vote.

In 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen.

Clara Zetkin
(Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) initiated the though of an International Women's Day.

She proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day i.e., a Women's Day.

The first International Women's Day was launched the following year by Clara Zetkin on 19 March and not 8 March.

Marketing strategy adopted for the first International Women's Day 1911 demonstration was word of mouth and press.

Meetings were organized everywhere from small towns to villages halls. The places were so full that male workers were asked to make place for the women.

Men stayed at home with their children for a change while the wives went to meetings.

In the year 1913 International Women's Day was transferred to 8 March and has remained the global date for International Wommen's Day ever since.

International Women's Day is marked as a national holiday in China, Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

TMA
wishes you a Happy Women's Day!

Top Make-up blunders to avoid

Don’t: Line lips with black eyeliner.

--This is no longer in fashion and is not as flattering as some women believe. Lip liner should never overpower your lips.

Do: Match lip liner with lipstick and blend it with a lip brush.

Don’t:
Draw in your eyebrows.

--Artificial looking arch can be quite a turn-off!

Do: Take time to create a natural-looking brow or use a light shade pencil (brown) to fill in.

Don’t:
Buy foundation a shade lighter or darker than your skin tone.

--This is the worst of all. Most women do this consciously to alter their complexion. But it looks obvious.

Do: Select a foundation that blends with your natural skin tone.

Don’t:
Get carried away with eye make-up.

--Though you may use three different shades of shadow, you should not be able to see the lines between those shades.

Do: Light eye make-up for day and dark for night. Always blend the colors.

Don't:
Put heavy mascara.

--Mascara tends to stick to the lashes and therefore smudge.

Do: Apply gently in an inside out fashion.

Don’t:
Wear too much makeup or too little.

--Keep in mind the venue otherwise head may turn at you for all wrong reasons.

Do: Wear just enough makeup to bring out your natural beauty.

Eat Healthy for a Flat Stomach

Want a flat stomach?

Have you tried several yo-yo diets and 1000 odd crunches to achieve washboard abs?

The bigger question is, Have you succeeded?

One of the biggest myths about staying fit is that—a flat stomach is impossible without sit-ups, crunches or other stomach exercises.

Even the idot-box promotes flat stomach in 5 minutes. Its nothing but absolute crap!
5 minutes isn't even enough for bathing let alone losing weight.

While exercising is important, it's not enough! Healthy eating habits contribute tremendously towards a fit & flat stomach

The truth is: Eat more often to increase your metabolism and Eat correct!

5-6 smaller meals a day instead of 3 regular meals smaller and substituting healthy snacks between your existing meals instead of fried

Here's how it works

When we eat, our bodies are designed to store fat for the future when we might have less food available. If our body is starving it does everything to store fat after every meal and your metabolism slows considerably.

On the other hand when your body feels you have plenty of food available your metabolism increases and your body stores less fat.

This is why starving yourself (and diets that require you to eat less than 1500 calories a day) will never work in the long run as a way of losing fat. Your metabolism will slow down and when you go back to eating like you did before the crash diet you gain a lot more fat than you lost.

Eating more meals a day means, as the body digests food it burns calories, so by dividing what you would eat in a day into smaller meals and eating more often will burn more calories.

Eating more meals keep you full for longer periods. Therefore, start eating early and don't eat too late at night.

Eat breakfast as soon as possible when you wake up, this will speed up your metabolism that slowed during the night.

What not to Eat

Never change your eating habits at once! Don't even starve.

Eat wholemeal and wholegrain bread instead of regular white bread. When possible, eat wholemeal pasta and brown rice, low fat milk products, egg whites as well as lean meat and tuna.

Aim to consistently give your body what it needs: fruits, whole grains, vegetables, nuts, and lean protein.

Importantly: Drink lots of water, Like a Fish!

Tips to enhance your Personality

Your personality is the the only thing you can take charge of and control. While some people buy new clothes, other hunt for branded attire to make them look great from the outwards.

The truth is if you're not strong from within nothing can make you look great from the outside.
Personality goes way beyond external appearances. It includes basic nature, traits, qualities, physical persona, speech, attitude and everything that's innate.

Try these:

1. Look Interested- Discover what other people want. Get to know their likes, dislikes, interests and beliefs. By doing this, you will be regarded as a person with a pleasing personality.

2. Have positive assumptions- Discard the negatives around and assume that people like you. If you show the other person that you want people to talk to you, they will react with warmth.

3. Admit your weaknesses- It's fine nobody is perfect. Strengths and weaknesses come together. To improve your personality, It's important to admit and identify your flaws before somebody else does it.

4. Admire your peers / friends- Its nice to praise them for their achievements. Tell them how attractive they look. Make them feel important they are to you. Therefore its essential to choose a group of friend that's compatible and encouraging. If in bad / incorrect company then steer away.

5. Like I said, always associate with people who are successful, happy and encouraging. Seek the companionship of others who can give you new points of views, renewed hopes, and meaningful life.

6. Be social- Social gatherings can increase your circle of friends. Social events can likewise give you new insights and experiences. It can help improve your relationships with other people and your community. Social gatherings can help you develop your communication skills.

7. Willing to learn- It's always good to know what's new. Try everything so that nothing seems impossible when attempting a new task. By doing so, you are expanding your horizons and opportunities.

Do a Personality check at Job interviews

A job is probably everything one dreams of, but why go unprepared.

Like you work hard to get good grades, best college and superior degree, you should also work on improving and enhancing your personality.

After all, your personality will take you one step further to success!

When a person gets into job or business, first thing he / she is conscious about the new corporate culture. Corporate or Business etiquette has now become vital.

There's always a void in life when it comes to Learning Corporate or Business etiquette as people come from varied cultures and backgrounds.

Here are some must-know Corporate Etiquette that will save your day :

Entrance: Your entrance, introduction and appearance could make or break the situation.

Handshake: Remember your nature is being judged by a mere handshake. There has to be firm handshake which shows your confidence and adaptability level. If you press palm of other person, it shows a dominant nature. Similarly, if you press your palm downwards and other person’s palm is upwards it shows a submissive style.

Interview: While going for interview, always knock the door and only after seeking the permission then enter the room.
Always greet the panel members and sit after they give permission to be seated. You should sit erect / straight with back touching the chair and both legs touching the ground.
Sit comfortably. Listen to the interviewer properly and then answer, don’t rush to answer before they complete their question.
At this point of time be very attentive it shows focus.

Dress code: "Man Maketh clothes" we know that. But the clothes chosen should enhance the personality too.
Your dress should be neat, clean and presentable.
Men should always wear shirt of light color with a tie.
Don’t spray too much strong perfume. Color of shirt, socks, belt, and boot should match.
For women, it depends on their cultural backgrounds. Don't glam-up unless told. Too much is bad.
Your dress should be according to company’s rules and regulations.
In short, your dress code should be formal & suit your body.

Business card: Always carry visiting cards with you.
Your details like name, designation and other details should be present.
Visiting cards must be kept in a visiting card holder.

GEt your confidence high!

Look for a role model (someone who has self confidence) and learn from them, however don't emulate them.

Time and again conduct SWOT analysis. Focus on your achievements rather than your failures. If you do find yourself thinking about how you failed then look at what you managed to do right and how you could correct what you did next time.

Learn to feel good about yourself at all times. Don't let trivial things upset you.

When you begin to Act as if you were self confident, you will feel more confident.

Focus on your chosen peer group. Friends can influence us easily therefore choose them with care.

Prepare thoroughly for any task so that you can be sure you are ready.

Keep working on honing your skills. You can never be over trained or over skilled for any challenge in life.

Work on your relaxation skills. Learn to calm yourself in tough situation.

Always smile and stand up straight. The body posture says a lot.

Set reachable/realistic goals for yourself and adopt drill-down method (break difficult tasks into smaller steps)

Reward yourself when you succeed, it doesn't matter whether the achievement is big or small .

Do not be too competitive or compare yourself with others.

Always be yourself and accept that life is not a race against others.

Remember your self confidence depends on how you make it -- after all, there's a very thin line between confidence and arrogance.

Its easy to be slim, to maintain it is hard!

Are you bored from the weight loss diet plan and monotonous work out routine? Are your results not showing yet?

Here are healthy and realistic diet tips that will lead to healthy weight loss.

Sumptuous and proper Breakfast-

Start your day with a heavy and healthy breakfast. This will help keep your metabolic rate high and active all day long. A calorie free and nutrition rich breakfast will balance your energy levels.

Lots of water-

Don’t rush while eating, eat your meals slowly-

It should be kept in mind that one should eat slowly and chew the food properly. This will enhance your digestive system and avoid overeating.

Exercise regularly, no pain no gain-

Along with proper eating habits, a regular exercise regime is a must to get that perfect figure. Exercise daily for 20-25 minutes for proper blood circulation. It will surely regulate your weight gain. Working out keeps the body shape intact.

Are you up for the challenge?

Yes, Modelling is almost like a challenge you take up in life.
Its not like other professions where you report to work do your job and back home. In a sense modelling has a lot to do with travelling, adapting to new places, staying under the arclights, going for auditions time and again and phew!

This is just the beginning...

However if everything done professionally and the right way can yield great results for the future. Earlier people would criticize modelling for being a hobby or side job but today Modelling is the profession. Everybody wants to taste it...

The money is good, the travelling is great and the circles have widened. But the bigger truth is how one enters the field.

TMA primarily concentrates on doing it the right way! As a model you never know when oppurtunity comes calling therefore its important to be prepared at all times.
TMA, The Modelling Academy does just that.
